that scale is: 20 = bad, 40 = adequate, 60+ = very good. Slip
resistance of tiles is carried out under both wet and dry
conditions using a pendulum skid tester and the mean value
of four readings per tile is recorded.
Freeze/Thaw
testing: Tiles are tested by external laboratories for freeze/thaw
resistance. Tiles at -20°C are thawed in water at +20°C
(1 cycle) for 25 cycles.
The tiles
are weighed and visually examined for signs of deterioration
after completing 25 cycles of freezing and thawing. No weight
loss has occurred and no signs of deterioration has been detected.
GENERAL
INFORMATION
Cleaning:
The tiles can be cleaned using water and a stiff broom, a
pressure washer, a weak bleach solution or soda crystal solution.
Care should be taken not use any material that is too abrasive
or chemical concentrations that are likely to damage the waterproofing
membrane, the insulation beneath the tiles, or etch the surface
of the tiles.
Precautions:
Inhalation of dust when cutting tiles should be avoided. Wear
dust masks where airborne particles are present. Goggles should
be worn when there is a risk of dust entering the eyes. Gloves
should also be worn when cutting and handling tiles. Carriage
of the tiles is not subject to hazardous conveyance regulations
and vehicle labelling is not required.
Handling
and delivery: The tiles are fragile and must be
handled with care. Tiles should be stacked on edge to avoid
breakages. Delivery is on non-returnable pallets for off-loading
by the customer. Alternatively, crane off-load vehicles are
available on request.
Service
and supply: Fully trained technical staff are available
to advise on all aspects of tile selection, specification
and laying, and to provide on-site or telephone advice. Spartan
Tiles are available either on a supply-only or supply-and-lay
basis using our own fully trained personnel or through
recognised merchants and contractors.
